Fasten Master for Trex

Screwing deck boards down is the most obvious part building a deck, even people who cant build know that the boards need to be fastened down. What many don’t know is that there are options to how it can be done. Fasten Master offers homeowners and builders two primary methods of screws that deliver very different looking finished products.

It can be difficult to differentiate the two by name, Fasten Master offers the Cortex Hidden Fastening System for decking and fascia, as well as Trap Ease for decking and Fascia. Each of these options will provide a different finished look to each board. The major recognition that needs to made here comes in the product title, Cortex and TrapEase. The TrapEase screws are straight forward color match deck screws while Cortex screws come with the screws and then a plug to cover the hole and blend in with the deck.

TrapEase screws are available for deck boards and fascia boards. These are color match screws designed to blend in with the appropriate Trex deck board. TrapEase screws do not come with the color match plug, this means that the screw head will be visible. The head of the screw is made to be UV and fade resistant so that the screw always stays the same color as the board. What’s beneficial about the Fasten Master design is that the screws can be used for more than just Trex boards. They are compatible with Azek, Deckorators, Fiberon and more.

Cortex screws are very similar to the TrapEase in that they are designed the same, but they do not have a color match head. Cortex replaces the color match screw head with a plug that fits seamlessly into the hole made by the screw. The plug is made from Trex boards of the corresponding color, so once its installed its virtually impossible to see unless you know where to look and what to look for. The packaging for Cortex includes not only the plugs and screws needed but as well as a counterbore tool and setting tool. This ensures a smooth and easy system of fastening your boards down.
