Deck Railing
Deck railing covers two things people confuse. A guard stops you falling off the deck. A handrail is the rail you grip on stairs. Composite top rails are too wide to grasp.
The numbers to check. Under the 2021 IRC model code a guard is called for above 30" from grade, minimum 36" high, no opening passing a 4" sphere. Codes vary by state, so confirm with your building department.
