Trex Decking Screws
Trex decking screws fasten the deck surface itself, either left visible in a colour-matched finish or driven below the surface and capped with a plug.
Length: a 1" board into a joist takes 2-1/2", or 2-3/4" if you want more bite. A 2x board takes 2-3/4" to 3". Count: Trex requires two screws per joist. At 16" on centre that is roughly 350 screws per 100 square feet, so size the pack against your deck area and add 10%.
Pre-drilling: a 1/8" pilot through the board improves results generally and is required near board ends. Keep fasteners at least 1" from any end or edge. Prefer no visible screws? See hidden fasteners.
